Bring Out The Natural Ability Of Both You And Your Horse
“Whether you are a reining competitor or an everyday trail rider, Tara can give your horse the start it needs to become a confident, willing partner to go in any direction you want.”

This is what “Natural Performance Horses LLC” is all about. Helping owners and the horses they ride realize their true potential.
After studying with Clinton Anderson for 3 ½ years, Tara decided to leave Ohio before her apprenticeship was finished to pursue a path in the Northwest that was her own. During her apprenticeship, Tara not only worked with Clinton consistently, but also worked with and attended clinics of many other well know trainers. Through her experiences Tara saw what worked and what didn’t when it came to teaching horses and their owners. Tara has taken the experience and knowledge she gained from her apprenticeship, as well as what she has learned from others, and developed her own program that she believes to be one of the best in helping both horses and people learn and understand what is being taught.
So what sets Tara Cunningham apart from many of the other natural horsemanship trainers and clinicians out there?
- First, Tara is patient, understanding and respectful. She realizes everyone is not a horse trainer. She doesn’t make her clients feel stupid or criticize the horses they ride.
- Tara has an amazing ability to explain things clearly where it “just makes sense.”
- She takes the time needed to be sure both horse and rider understand what to do and how to do it.
- Tara schedules a private lesson with the owner (for horses that are in training) to insure the owner can implement the lessons taught after the horse goes home.
- Tara truly values her clients and their horses and it is apparent when you see her interact with them.
- Being a small town girl from Washington, Tara focuses her training primarily in the Northwest.
- Tara’s training is affordable.
As horse owners it is our job to be “the leader” and to do that, you need to know the difference between good and bad behavior as well as what to do about it. Tara’s methods can show you how to be that leader. Through groundwork exercises (which are the cornerstone of Tara’s program) along with several riding exercises to build confidence, suppleness, and respect you too, can bring out the natural ability of both you and your horse.
